Happy 2021, everyone! Like many others, we are more than ready to leave 2020 behind and keep looking forward to the joy that 2021 may bring! We’re ready to hit the ground running with our resolutions, but it’s important to take your time in developing your yearly goals so that you can set yourself up for success. Goals that are too far fetched, out of reach, or too complex can lead to failure and, therefore, frustration in yourself. Here are some tips to create meaningful New Year’s Resolutions for 2021!
Think S.M.A.R.T!
You may have heard of the acronym SMART when attending a workshop or class surrounding development. SMART Goals are those that are Specific, Measurable, Acheivable, Relevant, and Time-Bound. Hitting these contributing factors will help your goals be clear, concise, and successful! Start with a main objective, then ask yourself how you can hit each ‘letter’ while creating your final road map. Here is an example:
- Main objective for 2021: Start a Real Estate Endeavor
- Specific: I want to purchase rental properties
- Measurable: I want to purchase 2 rental properties
- Acheivable: I will network with fellow investors and real estate professionals to find the best deals for me
- Relevant: Rental properties will provide me with income to continue my real estate business
- Time-Bound: I want to purchase these two properties in the next year. To do so, I will need to have found my 2nd property by October of 2021.
Ask Yourself ‘Why’?
When making your goals for 2021, ask yourself why you want to complete it? This is your biggest motivator! Finding your ‘why’ can help you be successful in attaining your goals because you can use it to shape them. Use it to answer the question of why your goal is relevant this year, and then use it as the boost you need when you are feeling down!
Find an Accountabila-buddy!
You mean you haven’t heard of an “Accountabila-buddy” before?! Find a friend that has similar goals as you and set a regular time to chat about how your goals are going. This can help you stay accountable for your own progress and have an outside point of view when you need it. Bouncing ideas off of others can also help you get out of a rut if you need to!
We hope that these tips help you in reaching your 2021 goals whether they are in real estate or not! We can’t wait to see what this year brings everyone! Happy 2021!!
