December is here and with that comes the holiday season! Even during these unprecedented times, creating a festive atmosphere is a fun tradition. Keep reading to discover ways to decorate your rental or smaller space to cultivate those holiday vibes!

Go for a Skinny, Fake Tree
Due to their fire risk, some rentals prohibit real Christmas trees. Forgo that by getting a faux tree! You can find a tree that is perfect for the size space you need and can save money by using the tree year after year. Check out pre-lit trees to make your decorating job that much easier.
Small Switches
Making small changes throughout your space can create a holiday vibe! Switch up your day to day throw blanket for a winter-y one, change your throw pillows out for holiday themed pillows, replace your photos with family photos from prior holiday seasons, have a set of winter hand towels. These small changes can bring together the feeling of the season!
Scents of the Season
Smell is the best way that I like to bring a cozy atmosphere to my home, and for the holidays it’s no different! Scents like cinnamon, pine, vanilla, and orange can bring the holiday cheer. Burn a candle, use essential oils, or create your own potpurri are ways you can bring these scents into your cozy home.
Want to Hang Anything? Check With Your Landlord!
If you have any questions for how you ultimately want to decorate the outside of your rental, it never hurts to double check with your landlord! For many landlords, like ourselves, our goal is to have you make your rental feel like home. If that means hanging lights outside, go for it! The saying goes “there’s no place like home for the holidays”, make sure that you feel cozy and at home in your rental.
