The end of August is here which means one thing, it’s time for back to school! This is a great opportunity to seize the milestone time of year to get some things done around your home. Keep reading for some of our recommendations on how to prep your home for back to school!

1. Clean out Closets
Back to school usually comes with back to school clothes shopping. One rule I try to abide by is as one thing comes into my closet, one related item must come out! Think about the items of clothing that weren’t worn in the summer and truly consider if they will be worn next summer. If not, to the donate bin! As you fill up on your fall wardrobe, comb through your previous fall and winter outfits and determine the same. Odds are, if you didn’t wear a certain sweater or fall shirt last year, you aren’t going to pull it out this year. To the donate bin it goes! Take this strategy to your shoes as well.
2. Pantry Revamp
When kiddos go back to school, the snack stash does not need to be as stocked as it did! Take this time to take a step back and reassess your family’s eating habits during the school year. You can re-organize your pantry and fridge to keep easy items on hand and make it easy to assemble quick meals and snacks when needed. This will make it much easier to grab and go when you’re running late to get the kids out the door!
3. Clean out Garage
Just like your closet revamp, take a hard look at your garage after a fun summer! Did the kids not even touch certain toys because they grew out of them? Donate to a neighbor or goodwill! Did you stock up on new yard tools throughout the summer? Take a step back and organize your garage to find them a new place to stay as fall comes around. With all of the fun of summer, things just get thrown into the garage for easy access, take this opportunity to give each piece a space to be put back to. This will make next summer easier to manage, as well!
